Anil Ambani's favourite hang-outs - Cream Centre at Chowpatty
Dear Anil, It's time to confess. I have been following you around. And now
the time has come to tell it all. I know that I should've taken your permission,
but what can i do? It's the call of my duty... the quest for good food. And hey,
you seem to know where to find it. I sniff out two of the places you love, in
Mumbai and Goa. I visit them and give you (and them) full marks.
THESE "World's best nachos" that you like here, are really just
that - the world's best! Freshly made & smothered with a rich cheesy
sauce. We all love those legendary channas & the plump bhaturas, but
what a whopper of a Tex-Mex Italian & Lebanese menu they've got now!
Veggies can go there eight days a week & eat different dishes &
cuisines each time. Jain options too.
Anil, I have some good news for you. The owner's bright young wife, who
studied at HAFT Sophia Polytechnic, has taken over Cream Centre &
started a brand new menu. Sabina Chona has found a brillant way of introducing
it through a first-of-it's-kind 'seven-in-one festival'. Pizzas, Mexican,
dum briyani, Delhi chaat, channa-kulcha & icecream-soda are all on
the festival menu. "We are making some great offers to our diners,
" Sabina explains, "Whenever they order a dish from the menu,
they get another dish free. This is our way of getting them to taste the
whole new menu."
Go for the full-bodied spiced Beans
Tacos (Rs 75), light & crispy Mozarela Pizza (Rs 49), the delicious tomatoey
enchiladas(Rs 79) & the spicy Italian Arabiatta (Rs 69).
Its a combination of deftly catering to the Indian palate and the generous
helpings, which make this eatery such a hit. Behind all this is Chef Kierran
Valladares who has trained under Singapore's famous Italian restaurant
Michaelangelo's Chef Simon.
Now
that Chowpatty has been cleaned up of its bhelpuriwalas, Sabina has decided to
offer not just authentic sevpuri (Rs 39) and batatapuri, but also Rajvir Singh from Delhi's Chandni Chowk to make some
terrific papdi chaat (Rs 39), kalmi chaat (Rs 39),aloo tikki(Rs 39)and
more. Of cource, the Kulfis are to die for, especially the black currant,
butterscotch and tutti fruity (Rs 39) one.Do you agree?
PS:
Tell me, Anil, do you ever notice that this restaurant offers real value-for-money
fare, or do you go there simply because you love the food? Cream Centre,
